ABOUT

Matthew Broerman is an Ohio artist and designer who creates modern, minimal paintings of animals and nature through the interplay of water and ink. He grew up on a farm in northern Ohio, surrounded by animals, fields, and forests. "No matter what medium I've worked in over the years, I've always used nature as a source of inspiration." Broerman holds a degree in Graphic Design from the University of Cincinnati, and has spent his career working as a designer, artist, and illustrator for clients all over the world. He currently owns and operates the graphic design studio Ink & Craft.

His work is bold and illustrative, marked by energetic brushstrokes and strong silhouettes. "I enjoy the speed of painting with water and ink. There is no time to be fussy or fiddly." He currently lives in Loveland, Ohio with his wife and two daughters, and he regularly exhibits his work at shows throughout the Midwest.
